The Animex day was a great stimulus for the Y2 children to develop and practise their coding skills to create a short animation. We used the fun children’s book, The Queen’s Knickers, as a base for our animation. First, we created a story board to outline the main four events of the narrative. We then selected a female sprite for the Queen and a male sprite for the butler who searches desperately to find the Queen’s missing knickers trunk. The children loved using Scratch to design their own version of a story that they have loved reading this year.

Good afternoon,
We have had a phenomenal week at Brambles.
Last weekend, 38 children went to Junior Warrior in Leeds. An amazingly experience with plenty of mud, obstacles and running! One of my personal favourite experiences we have taken children on.
On Wednesday, some of our immensely talented children performed Shrek at Middlesbrough Theatre. It was a show to remember and the staff at Brambles are very proud of the effort the children put in!
Today was our KS1 and KS2 Sports Days. These were brilliant events and the children enjoyed all of the activities. Can I just say an extra thank you to Mr Swales for organising such a smooth running event!
Just a quick reminder that our 90th birthday celebration (Summer Fayre) is two weeks today on Friday 11th July. Have a wonderful weekend.
Thanks,
Mr Mayle

Dear Parents and Carers,
Your local authority public health team would like to invite you to fill in a short follow-up survey about the National Child Measurement Programme (NCMP).
The NCMP is a statutory requirement of all local authorities, supported by the Health and Social Care Act 2012. Each year, height and weight data are collected by trained healthcare providers for children in Reception and Year 6. These height and weight measurements are used to help the local authority and NHS to plan the provision of services to support healthy lifestyles for children and families in the local area.
Last year, we asked for views on the NCMP letters sent to parents after their child is measured. The feedback helped us make changes to improve how we communicate children’s results to be more neutral in tone, empathetic and supportive. This follow up survey is to understand whether you agree with the changes made.
The survey is completely anonymous, so we will not know your identity, and should only take a few minutes to do. We have asked for the name of your child’s school to ensure a consistent approach to the NCMP across all schools in Middlesbrough and Redcar and Cleveland.
Thank you in advance for completing this survey, your answers are very important to us.

Good afternoon,
It has been a really busy week at Brambles. Not least because we are in the final stages of rehearsals for Shrek which goes on stage next week!
Some of our year 3 and 4 children went on a visit to meet AF Steadman, the author of the Skandar series of books.
There have been three athletics competitions with years 1-3 finishing second as a team. Also we need to celebrate Oliver in year 6 who has qualified for the regional competition later in June.
Year 1 went on their trip to Preston Park, spending time in the museum and enjoying the sunshine outdoors.
Today we have had a whole school skipping day to promote health and fitness through skipping.
The heating project is well underway and they are making excellent headway and we will keep you posted about further moves around school.
Have a wonderful weekend and we will see those going to Junior Warrior at 8.10 in the morning.
Thanks,
Mr Mayle

Good afternoon,
It has been another brilliant week in school with some more exciting activities.
Year 6 went on a visit to Beamish, a great living history museum which looks at life through the ages from Victorian schools and farming, an Edwardian street with shops and Second World War era housing.
Year 3 went on a visit to Duncombe Park an amazing day in the outdoors learning about animals, habitats, the region through time such as vikings and romans and about sustainable food option.
A group from year 5 visited Night Light CIC to see the impact of collecting all of the crisp packets to make sleeping bags for the homeless.
Well done to all of our core value champions being rewarded for kindness linked to Darling House and Grace Darling. As well as our attendance winners 6H.
Can I please remind you of the letter that came out earlier in the week about the heating project that starts on Monday. Classes are moving within the school but learning will not be affected in any way. We will keep you updated when year groups are moving and this begins with year 5 and 6 who have new classrooms set up already to start on Monday.
Thanks for working through this project with us and have a wonderful weekend!

Our Year 6 pupils have celebrated the end of their time at Brambles with our annual camping trip to Lordstones Country Park. This involved three days and two nights spent enjoying the North York Moors National Park. The children arrived on Monday morning and promptly set up the campsite with all tents and equipment they would need to live outdoors for the time period. Over the three days, the children covered over 10 miles of walking with a particularly long walk on the second day taking in the North Yorkshire Three Peaks from Lordstones over to the Wainstones and back. In addition to the walking, the children took part in a host of other activities including weaseling through rocks, team-building challenges, and even a talent competition. It was a fantastic adventure and a great way for them to celebrate after all their hard work throughout year 6.

This year EYFS took part in Sports Day together. We split into teams and enjoyed taking part in eight different activities. We had egg and spoon races, welly throwing, and water collecting to name just a few! Nursery and Reception children all took part and the staff were so proud of everyone. It was lovely to have Parents, Grandparents, Aunts, and Uncles to come and watch – they were great at cheering the children on!
Key Stage 1 and 2 sports days were split over two days but all children were involved in a wide range of races and activities that ranges from running and jumping to throwing and shuffling. It was a fantastic day enjoyed by all and it was brilliant to have parents and carers back to see the children enjoying sports outdoors.

Brambles celebrated the Queen’s Jubilee in true Brambles style. We started the day with a whole school assembly to celebrate our Jubilee Crown competition. Children across the whole academy were invited to make a Crown at home to bring into school. It was a difficult decision trying to pick winners however, each year group had a very worthy winner each winning a prize. The children decorated the corridors with bunting, and paper chains, and made flags. Each year group celebrated a decade from the Queen’s reign working together to create a special poster. At lunchtime, we had a whole school outdoor picnic with music playing. The atmosphere was fantastic – especially when all of the children joined in singing ‘Sweet Caroline’. In the afternoon we split the time so everyone had a turn playing games on the field – mini golf, ring toss, and limbo to name a few – then a craft session making a carriage for the Queen, a lolly stick soldier, and an Andy Warhol inspired collage of the Queen. Each child in school received a very special keepsake book and button badge to remember the day. The children thoroughly enjoyed the learning that took place and the celebrations to finish the half term.
